Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a highly structured and practical therapeutic approach which is very effective for anxiety, depression, OCD and specific fears and phobias, for example social and health anxiety. It is a collaborative approach which can often deliver results in a relatively short space of time.

CBT works on the principle that our thoughts, feelings  - both emotional and bodily - and behaviours are all closely interconnected and that we can get stuck in negative, unhelpful and sometimes very distressing thought cycles which we maintain by our actions and behaviours. CBT aims to break these cycles that can prevent us from living our lives fully and helps us create and nurture new ways of helpful thinking both about ourselves and the world around us.
